    Position Overview

    Canon U.S.A., Inc. is currently seeking a qualified Counsel to join the Corporate Legal Division in our Melville, NY office.

    Responsibilities

    - This role will handle various transactional matters and form a vital part of the data security/privacy team. With regard to transactional work, the attorney will:
    - (a) structure, draft and negotiate non-disclosure, license, subscription, service and other commercial agreements for various business groups and affiliates
    - (b) review advertising, marketing and other promotional collateral
    - As a member of the data security/privacy team, the attorney will:
    - (a) work directly with key members of the business and legal teams on data security/privacy reviews and projects
    - (b) advise on compliance across all aspects of global privacy law and regulation, including data protection, data retention, data security, and data breach rules
    - (c) advise on data security/privacy aspects of licensing and procurement deals
    - (d) prepare terms of use, privacy statements and terms and conditions for various business initiatives
    - (e) draft policies and procedures, including those surrounding privacy laws

    Qualifications

    - Juris Doctor required
    - Minimum of 7 years of progressive legal experience with exposure to large corporate entities a must
    - The incumbent must be a member of the NY State Bar and demonstrate an ability to work across various groups both within our Legal Department and throughout various Canon USA businesses
    - CIPP/US certification preferred.  Knowledge of HIPAA a plus
