    Position Overview

     
    Utilize knowledge of and experience with Workers’ Compensation programs, online and instructor led Safety and Environmental training techniques to help maintain programs and ensure Canon Virginia Inc. (CVI) and its subsidiaries maintain compliance to Virginia Workers’ Compensation Insurance System requirements.
     

    Responsibilities

     
    - Coordinate Workers’ Compensation claims, processes, and activities; including maintaining relationships with employees, claims adjusters, and medical providers.
    - Ensure consistent communication and effective working relationships with risk management and Work-ers’ Compensation claims management personnel. Work closely with Third Party Administrator claim adjusters designated to administer CVI Workers’ Compensation claims.
    - File First Report of Injury reports with the state insurance commission and the Third Party Administrator. Track status of claims, maintain dialog with injured employees and Third Party Administrator.
    - Provide periodic reports to management regarding restricted/loss of work days count and return to work status for all open cases. Assist management with the coordination of onsite visits from insurance loss control personnel and claims, to include scheduling meetings with CVI departments and administering follow-up actions for any findings or recommendations.
    - Coordinate employee education and promotional material and programs designed to support CVI’s Safety and Environmental sustainability activities and compliance with CVI’s certifications (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, R2) and the Canon Inc. environmental charter.
    - Organize departmental training programs, including safety course library scheduling and training comple-tion record keeping.
    - Track and administer periodic reviews and revisions of CVI safety training program materials.
    - Assist in tracking safety training requirements for outside contractors as required.
    - Achieve instructor certifications and conduct Safety and Environmental training classes as needed.
    - Participate and/or lead educational meetings (e.g. New Hire Orientation, Monthly Safety Committee Meetings, Quarterly Roundtables, etc.)
    - Provide assistance with internal safety and environmental inspections and 6S program audits. Documents inspection findings and follows up with corresponding work area representatives to resolve noted discrep-ancies. May perform Industrial Clinic Duties as needed (e.g. return to work permits, prescription medica-tion for record keeping, medical and industrial hygiene record filing, conducting employee drug screens, etc.)
    - May be assigned additional duties and/or special projects

    Qualifications

     
    - Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s Degree with 2-5 years of re-lated experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
    - Requires working knowledge of Federal/State/Local regulations pertaining to safety and environmental issues (e.g. OSHA, NFPA, EPA, DOT).
    - Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
    - Experience with Microsoft Suite Applications required.
    - Certification in First Aid/CPR/AED, Blood borne Pathogens, and OSHA 10HR General Industry Stand-ards preferred.
    - May have to work overtime and may be assigned to other shifts based on company needs.
