    Position Overview

    Be a part of a team of business executives, medical device engineers and researcher scientists at the Healthcare Optics Research Laboratory (HORL), focused on developing unique biomedical imaging devices in collaboration with leading medical institutions. Conduct market research, competitive analysis and help develop marketing plans to support the commercialization of image guided therapy products being developed at HORL.
    The position is well-suited to an MBA student who has or desires future medical device industry or healthcare experience and seeks the unique experience of working within a medical device start-up that itself sits within an established corporation.

    Responsibilities

    - Understand current status of product development for each of the projects
    - Research the market for a new medical device
    - Conduct competitive intelligence research of relevant companies and products
    - Develop comprehensive marketing and launch plans for the new products to drive rapid adoption and learning
    - Understand key requirements in medical device development, review clinical unmet needs, and refine needs based on literature, where applicable
    - Work closely with the marketing executives and team of engineers and researcher scientists to assess and prioritize development plans in accordance with market and clinical needs
    - Participate in product concept generation activities, and conduct expert interviews
    - Review market research and competitive landscape to evaluate business opportunities and define value proposition for innovative medical technology
    - Educate colleagues about current clinical practice and market needs for relevant technology areas
    - Develop relationships with clinicians to provide input and advice on the current market
    - Travel to locations such as trade shows to conduct market research
    - Collaborating with cross-functional teams including corporate planning experts, project managers, engineers, regulatory specialists, clinical specialists, marketers, and others
    - Embrace Canon’s kyosei philosophy and embody the san-ji spirit
    - Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    - Current MBA, MD/MBA, or MPH/MBA student
    - Bachelor’s degree or higher required – engineering, science, or business preferred
    - Leadership: Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with individuals at many levels across all functions; Ability to interact with physician thought leaders.
    - Project Management: Ability and desire to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities.
    - Knowledge: Understanding of medicine and management, medical device industry, healthcare, or similar experience preferred
    - Skills: Financial modeling; ability to interact with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and researchers; excellent oral and written communication skills across functions and seniority levels
    - Personal qualities of integrity, flexibility and patience coupled with high energy
    - Strong proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
