    Position Overview

    Canon Healthcare Optics Research Laboratory is currently seeking an Electrical-Optical Engineering Technician Trainee to assist in electrical, optical and mechanical testing of the key components and materials for medical optical imaging systems.


    - Perform electrical and optical testing of prototype optical components and assemblies.
    - Fabricate and assemble fiber optic components using various fiber optic techniques such as splicing and connectorization. 
    - Perform root cause analysis and recommend possible design changes based on testing results.
    - Conduct competitive analysis
    - Coordinate with outside suppliers in the fabrication, assembly and testing of fiber optical components.
    - Perform basic analysis using Matlab and/or Excel. 
    - Work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists to coordinate daily activities and goals.
    - Build and improve custom test equipment and fixtures.
    - Present test results in team meetings using PowerPoint or other presentation software.


    - Education: BS or BS expected in Electrical, Optical, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent
    - Experience Required: Good understanding of electrical and optical concepts, design, and testing of optical and fiber optical components and devices. 
    - Knowledge on raw materials, machining processes, and quality control.
    - Required skills in basic analysis tools like Matlab and Excel.
    - Skills in design, drafting and analysis using SolidWorks and Zemax are nice to have.
    - Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly to others in different functions, at various levels.
