Position Overview

Canon Healthcare Optics Research Laboratory is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician (Co-Op) to assist in mechanical testing of the key components and materials for medical optical imaging systems. 

Responsibilities

- Conduct intracoronary imaging tests on fixed swine hearts 
- Build prototype catheter designs using various catheter assembly techniques. 
- Perform mechanical testing such as tensile, torque and column buckling on the prototypes.
- Perform root cause analysis and recommend possible design changes based on testing results.
- Work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists to coordinate daily activities and goals.
- Build and improve custom test equipment and fixtures
- Present test results in team meetings using PowerPoint or other presentation software.

Qualifications

- BS or BS expected in biomedical engineering 
- Experience preferred: Experience working with animal tissue in a laboratory environment. 
- Familiar with Solid Works or similar 3D CAD.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly to others in different functions, at various levels.
