Position Overview

Canon Financial Services, Inc. is currently hiring for our 2018 Canon Insights Intern Program.  The Insights Program is a comprehensive program that runs for 10 weeks during the summer. This is a full-time (8:30 AM to 5 PM), 37.50 hours a week, paid internship. This program is designed to provide students an opportunity to gain hands-on work experience by participating in significant work projects and exposure to various business units within Canon.


- Assist the CFS Underwriting team with various risk management functions, including, but not limited to, gathering data on prospective and existing customers to support credit decisions, managing credit lines, compiling reports summarizing underwriting and portfolio performance data, and interfacing with Originations, Collections, and other departments to assist Underwriters in resolving business and risk management issues.
- Applies computer software skills to learn system processes and procedures and complete special projects as assigned.
- Develops an understanding of how to resolve business issues within a risk management framework, including how to negotiate favorable terms with the sales team and end user customers - this includes the opportunity to attend at least one conference call to observe  how business and risk management issues are effectively negotiated and resolved.
- Collaborates with Senior Risk Analysts to complete a special credit analysis project and present that project to the Underwriting team.


We prefer students that are entering their Junior or Senior year as of the Summer 2018, however, all are welcome to apply. To succeed in the Insights Program, you must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Power point, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
Major in Business, Business Administration, Economics, or Finance or related discipline; strong computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), strong written and verbal communication skills, self-starter with a focus and desire to work in equipment finance and learn the fundamentals of financial statement and credit analysis in a fast paced, customer focused environment.
