Position Overview

Ensures acceptability of parts/tools by utilizing measurement equipment to validate quality and functional characteristics. Creates complex CMM programs for measurement of parts.


- Writes advanced level CMM/VCMM programs. Programs to run multiple parts concurrently in order to maximize efficiency.
- Analyzes measurement data to troubleshoot and correct problems. Develops countermeasures to prevent future occurrences.
- Works with engineering departments to determine and design fixtures needed for new parts measurement/project start-ups.
- Coordinates installation and approval of new measurement equipment for measurement and/or calibration labs. Determines what data is needed and present to management for approval.
- Coordinates and performs correlation studies. Reviews data collected and determines if correlation is acceptable or not. identifies issues related to poor correlation and reliability.
- Creates calibration/measurement instructions for new parts/products. Supports project start-up by developing measurement methods. Works with support groups to implement methods.
- Troubleshoots intermediate issues on measurement and/or calibration equipment. Contact/coordinates vendor’s support as needed.
- Supports engineering departments with investigating parts, equipment and production problems.
- Approves assigned work standards, checksheets, and other related documentation. Supports continuous improvement by reviewing and updating documentation as needed.
- Provides training and stewardship to less experienced technicians. Creates training schedules and coordinates, conducts and monitors progress until training is complete.
- May be assigned additional duties.


- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree and 8-12 years measurement, calibration, or quality experience.
- Able to program and trouble shoot problems with Electrical and/or Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) and program in AutoCAD.
- Must be able to read blueprints and/or electrical schematics/diagrams and understand CAD and/or 3-D modeling.
- Able to use precision mechanical and/or electrical tools and understand the readings from digital or analog tool displays.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Oracle, and Proquis.
- Strong analytical skills.
- May have to work overtime and may be assigned to other shifts based on company needs
