Position Overview

Canon, U. S. A., Inc. is currently hiring for our 2018 Canon Insights Intern Program.  The Insights Program is a comprehensive program that runs for 10 weeks during the summer (June 4th-August 10th). This is a full-time (9 AM to 5 PM), 35 hours a week, paid internship. This program is designed to provide students an opportunity to gain hands-on work experience by participating in significant work projects and exposure to various business units within Canon.

Responsibilities

Support the Strategy, Planning, and Administration division in expanding the use of Data Science (DS) within Canon. The intern will work with the peer buddy on the following tasks.
 
- Explore and analyze new data sources
- Support data science initiatives
- Assist with implementation of DS recommendations
- Take on the role of Data Scientist
- Leverage data science analytical and visualization tools to solve problems
- Understand how to translate business needs to data driven problems
 
The intern will work on a cross functional project that includes Product Marketing, Digital Marketing, IT, Customer Support, and Sales; allowing the intern to gaining broad exposure to our business and product lines.

Qualifications

 We prefer Business Analytics students that are entering their Junior or Senior year as of the Summer 2018, however, all are welcome to apply. To succeed in the Insights Program, you must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Power point, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. We also require candidates to be enrolled in a related major in the department of interest and have some former work or internship experience.
 
- Education: Quantitative background (Computer Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, etc.)
- Computer Skills: Python, R, SQL, Spark, Tableau, or equivalent
- Business Skills: Data driven, able to work with marketing and business teams, can translate think of business problems as data problems
