Position Overview

Canon, U. S. A., Inc. is currently hiring for our 2018 Canon Insights Intern Program.  The Insights Program is a comprehensive program that runs for 10 weeks during the summer. This is a full-time (9 AM to 5 PM), 35 hours a week, paid internship. This program is designed to provide students an opportunity to gain hands-on work experience by participating in significant work projects and exposure to various business units within Canon.
 
As an intern you will support the Strategy, Planning, and Administration division in managing several key projects within Canon. The intern will work as part of a cross functional team that includes members from Business Development, Customer Support, Digital Marketing, IT, Legal, Procurement, Product Marketing, and Sales; allowing the intern to gaining broad exposure to our business and product lines.
 
Past projects have been diverse and far-reaching, including launching a new online learning product, designing and constructing a new building location for our cinema products, and identifying and evaluating business opportunities with external business partners. You will perform research, coordinate project activities, and prepare summary presentations/reports.
 
 
 

Responsibilities

Specifically, the intern will be expected to:
 
- Work in a culturally diverse cross functional team.
- Assist project managers with their projects.
- Initiate action to resolve issues.
- Build financial models to support the business case.
- Enhance reporting and metrics.
- Make recommendations based on survey data and internal business intelligence reports.
- Develop skills in communicating and interacting with business leaders.
- Research and synthesize information related to emerging technologies and business models in a wide variety of product and market sectors.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and analyze actual to budget variances.
- Participate in contracting with vendors, contract review, and compliance.

Qualifications

We prefer students that are entering their Junior or Senior year as of the Summer 2018, however, all are welcome to apply. To succeed in the Insights Program, you must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Power point, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. We also require candidates to be enrolled in a related major in the department of interest and have some former work or internship experience.
 
- Business majors are preferred – Accounting, Business Admin, Finance, Marketing, or Technology.
- Prior internship experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to innovate and find creative solutions to challenging problems.
- Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills preferred.
- Able to work independently, evaluate priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Candidate must have good organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access)
- Intermediate proficiency in Excel preferred.
- Proficiency with Visio and MS Project is a plus.
Experience with website design and content creation using a CMS is a plus.
