Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Senior Counsel (Counsel, Sr.) to join the Corporate Legal Division in our Melville, NY Headquarters. The successful candidate will provide counseling, training and support to management on corporate commercial transaction matters and various legal issues that directly affect business operations.


- Providing legal support to Canon USA and Canon USA affiliate business clients with respect to RFPS issued by private, state and federal government customer contracts, including the preparation of RFP responses and negotiating awarded contracts.
- Drafting and negotiating direct customer contracts, as well as reseller/dealer/distributor agreements with respect to Canon hardware and software products and services.
- Counseling and training Canon USA and Canon USA affiliate business clients with respect to contract performance matters and relevant policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
- Working with in-house legal counsel for Canon entities located in other countries to facilitate the negotiation of global contracts.


- Juris Doctor from an ABA-approved law school
- A minimum of 10-15 years of progressive law firm or in-house legal experience with exposure to large corporate entities
- Proficient knowledge in the areas of corporate commercial transactions, contracts (including direct customer contracts and dealer/distributor agreements), software licensing, and equipment leasing/financing agreements
- Subject matter expertise in data privacy, cloud computing, and information security a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills, team oriented and able to work effectively with personnel at many different levels throughout the Company
- Member in good standing of the New York State Bar (or current registration as NY In-House Counsel)
