Position Overview

Monitors, maintains, improves, and controls quality and efficiency of various production lines. Provides technical support to manufacturing areas.


- Installs, programs and/or repairs robotics equipment applying knowledge of electronics, electrical circuits, mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics and programming using power tools, handtools and testing instruments.
- Modifies programs to refine movement of robotics equipment.
- Tests electrical components such as wiring, switches and relays using test equipment.
- Follows manuals, schematic diagrams and blueprints to install, repair or replace production line parts.
- Troubleshoots inefficiency of production equipment to determine cause and develops countermeasures.
- Performs repairs and/or makes modifications/improvements to correct and/or increase machine efficiency.
- Evaluates operational systems and recommends design modifications to eliminate causes of malfunctions or changes in system requirements.
- Consults with management and/or suppliers regarding major equipment modifications and/or improvements.
- Maintains maintenance and test equipment records and trouble reports. Develops reports concerning machine failures and down time.
- Maintains test equipment and tools. May perform calibration checks and make adjustments as necessary.
- Determines parts supply, maintenance tasks, safety procedures and service schedule required to maintain machines and production equipment in optimal condition.
- Coordinates with PM (Preventative Maintenance) and Engineering to develop and conduct preventive maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
- May assist with the implementation of technical and/or mechanical Kaizens.
- Performs lock, tag, clear and try procedures to ensure safety.
- Assembles, repairs, and fabricates metal parts by operating mechanical equipment.
- Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining. Assists in determining dimensions and tolerances.
- Sets up and operates metal-removing machines, such as lathes, milling machine or grinder, to machine parts to specifications.
- Uses precision measuring instruments to adhere to specifications, dimensions and alignment (e.g. micrometers, calipers, gauges).
- May operate precision machine tools such as computerized milling machine, cylindrical grinders, surface grinders and EDM machine.
- Confers with appropriate personnel relating to machining requirements, design changes and/or equipment changes.
- Uses basic knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures in regards to machine shop operation and equipment.
- Understands root cause analysis methods for equipment operation.
- Collaborates with engineers and other personnel to identify, define and solve production.development problems.
- Collects, analyzes and reviews data to resolve design related problems.
- Consults with management and/or engineers regarding major equipment issues and/or improvements.
- May assist with the implementation of technical and/or mechanical improvement activities.
- May perform equipment audits and makes recommendations as necessary
- May be assigned additional duties and/or special projects.


Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associates Degree with 4-6 years mechanical repair, electrical trouble shooting and/or applied science experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Strong analytical skills.

Knowledge of robotics, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanics and electronics required.

May have to work overtime and may be assigned to other shifts based on company needs.

May be required to perform on-call duties.
