Position Overview

The (Technical Specialist)  provides technical information and technical marketing support on professional imaging products. Makes technical presentations and creates new product documentation regarding all aspects of professional imaging products. Assists internal Canon staff in assessing potential markets and uses of products to meet customer needs and preparing detailed product specifications. Conducts market research and contributes to new product planning.

 

  • Product & Technical Documentation on EOS Products and related products and lines - creating product/technical documentation for Canon staff, dealers, third party support and consumers.
  • Product Planning, Testing and Research: identifying and reporting on product issues or potential improvements to new or existing products.
  • New Product Training & Technical Support - provide support for Canon staff, third party programs and end-users and assisting with on-site and on-line training programs.
  • Stay educated and up to date on the current technologies and products (Canon and competitors) for still photography products, lenses and related products and accessories including Professional Video and Cinema categories. 
  • Work with Canon field staff and third party resources to compile product feedback from end users.
  • Troubleshoot, research and test potential professional imaging product issues as they arise in the field. Report on results from research and testing in a professional and timely manner.
  • Work as a technical product representative and expert to the press when needed. Public Speaking experience required.
  • Attend selected trade shows and training events.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's or equivalent degree, and a minimum of 12 to 18 months experience in digital imaging experience or camera/video sales experience is required. Corporate training experience is a plus. 

 

Technical writing experience required covering photography and videography.

This position requires 30% travel. This position requires driving for company business as an essential function of the job and must remain in compliance with company safety guidelines and policies.

 

Examples will be required for the interview process.

  • Experience with public speaking, technical writing, creating training presentations, and printed materials are required. A sample presentation will be part of the interview process. A successful candidate must not only be able to present on a highly technical level, but also to take the same information and present it at a basic level as well.
  • Excellent organizational, writing and speaking skills are required. 
  • Software skills should include the Microsoft Office Suite (with a heavy focus on PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent, as well as general experience working with MacIntosh and Windows operating systems and hardware. 
  • Although not required, a benefit would be to have real world video production, video editing and cinematography experience.
