Position Overview

The Associate Technical Specialist will be instrumental in providing pre-sales and post-sales technical support to clients as well as performing comparative testing, research and performing technical presentations regarding all aspects of group’s products.

 

He/she will assess the potential application of company products to meet customer needs and prepare detailed conclusions based upon experience, research and data. Current project: CMOS Sensors, modular imaging systems, and customized cameras and lens to integrators and end use clients.

Additionally, he/she will work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors and the eventual creation of a solution.

Responsibilities

 

  • Provides pre and post sales technical marketing support.
  • Assists with preparation of technical presentations regarding all aspects of company products.
  • Assists sales staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs and preparing detailed product specifications. Provides follow-up support in disseminating technical information on specific applications to service personnel, company sales representatives, and customer’s employees.
  • Conducts product training seminars for Canon staff, dealer sales staff, and consumers in order to assure full understanding of product features and competitive advantages.
  • Assists with planning and participation in industry trade shows and conventions in order to demonstrate Canon products and develop new sales leads.
  • Assists at point-of-sale at major dealer shows, sales or demonstrations in order to increase sales and maintain dealer good will.
  • Studies and evaluates Canon and competitive products in order to report weaknesses and sales advantages, develop training materials and act as a resource for staff, dealers and professional clients.
  • Facilitates group lab space and demo equipment.
  • Contacts professional, industrial and government clients in order to demonstrate products and provide necessary service, while developing new sales leads.

Qualifications

  • BS degree is required, preferably in electrical engineering/engineering/imaging or a similar technical field as related to professional and industrial imaging applications and solutions.
  • 1+ years of relevant work experience in industrial imaging products and solutions.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills, as well as possess excellent public speaking and presentation skills. 
  • Thorough and professional knowledge of imaging and basic CRM techniques is required.
  • Must be detail oriented, have the ability to analyze client needs, isolate technical problems and recommend appropriate actions and solutions.  Must possess proficiency with the applications, uses and markets of professional imaging and industrial imaging products.
  • 25% travel is required. This position requires driving for company business as an essential function of the job and therefore, you must remain in compliance with company safety guidelines and policies.
  • Ability to lift demonstration equipment, up to 50lbs. 
  • Additionally, you must have a valid driver license and credit card, expenses to be fully reimbursed according to Canon policy.
